Apparently there’s some confusion about registration for WordCamp Boston 2011.
If you signed up only on Eventbrite, you have not yet registered.
Where does the confusion come from?
Back in January of 2010, at the close of WordCamp Boston, we set up an event on Eventbrite for the 2011 camp, not yet knowing when or where it would be. The idea was that we would use signups on that Eventbrite event to indicate interest, and to get folks’ email addresses on a a list to which we could reach out when more information was available.
We also set up an eventbrite signup form for volunteers, to track the email addresses of those who volunteered in 2010 and make sure we gave them first opportunity to register for 2011.
However, it seems that some folks are confused and believe they are registered for the camp simply because they signed up on Eventbrite.
First, if what you have is an email confirmation from Eventbrite which looks like this (note the “I’m Interested!” type, and the “THIS IS NOT A TICKET” language):
Or you have a printout/pdf which looks like this (even though Eventbrite calls this a ticket, it is NOT):
Then you are NOT registered for WordCamp Boston 2011. You have only signed up for a mailing list of being interested.
